BNS announces support for Microsoft Purview & Australian Government Secure cloud blueprint
Following comprehensive testing BNS has confirmed that both its FAX and SMS Server software support sensitivity labels and data loss prevention and comply with the latest email protective marking standards compliance 2018.6 and 2018.8.
Microsoft Purview helps secure and govern data across your data estate while reducing risk and meeting compliance requirements. Microsoft Purview is the only solution that natively interoperates with Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.
Microsoft Purview covers many aspects of data security and compliance including: Audit, Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, Data Lifecycle Management, Compliance Manager and Data Loss Prevention.

Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MPIP) integrates with Microsoft 365 to safeguard sensitive information or comply with information related regulations such as the Australian Government Protected Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
BNS deployed Microsoft Purview and applied the ASD Blueprint secure cloud configuration in its Microsoft 365 test tenancy February 2024. Following comprehensive testing BNS confirmed that both its FAX and SMS Server software support sensitivity labels and data loss prevention to comply with the latest email protective marking standards compliance 2018.6 and 2018.8.
BNS’s Enterprise SMS Server technology has been optimised to run in a customer’s cloud tenancy to meet the customer’s security requirements as a Microsoft Purview compliant gateway for Email Protective marking standards. BNS believes that state based Governments, banks, financials and large enterprise customers who need to control release of sensitive data to external networks such as SMS text messaging, will also adopt Microsoft Purview along with ASD’s Blueprint.

MPIP provides capabilities that allows for users to identify and protect sensitive information.
The Australian Signals Directorate’s (ASD’s) Blueprint for Secure Cloud (the Blueprint) is an online tool to support the design, configuration and deployment of collaborative and secure cloud and hybrid workspaces, with a current focus on Microsoft 365.

BNS also worked with Microsoft in February 2024 to identify some aspects of Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels called X-Protective Markings providing Microsoft with specific advice to support workflow applications and gateways using the Microsoft Graph API.
BNS is continuing to develop and position its SMS server software as a secure gateway in the customer’s own tenancy fully integrated with Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365\Copilot.
