Unclassified fax solution using Ricoh MFD
16 September 2011, BNS releases technology for Australian Government which can assist in reducing potential leakage of classified information (Wiki-leaks) using facsimile transmissions.
Unaudited fax machines located in highly secure Government locations are potential leakage points of classified information.
The Australian designed technology uses a combination of: msXfax Enhanced Security Edition fax server, msXmhs message handling software and Ricoh Multi-function devices (MFD) equipped with GSNX software & profiles.
The solution is unique in that allows a MFD to send faxes without a fax card in the MFD and at the same time complies with the Information Security Manual (ISM) controls required for Fax machines and MFDs when used in Government networks.
The Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) produces the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM). The manual is the standard which governs the security of government ICT systems.
